Alta Lake State Park is located two miles (3.2 km) southwest of Pateros, Washington, at the northern end of 220-acre (89 ha) Alta Lake, in the mountainous northwest interior of the state. The park and adjacent lake lie beneath towering stone cliffs, formed by glaciation, that rise 1000 feet (304 m) above the valley floor, and carry on up to the top of Old Goat Mountain which sits 4200 ft (1280 m) above the park. A two-mile-long (3 km) road leading to the park, Alta Lake Road, intersects State Route 153, which runs along the Methow River.

Things to remember
• Park hours – April 1 to Oct. 31,
6:30 a.m. to dusk.
• Winter schedule – Nov. 1 to March 31,
8 a.m. to dusk Although most parks are open year
round, some parks or portions of parks are closed
during the winter. For a winter schedule and information
about seasonal closures, visit www.parks.state.wa.us
or call the information center at (360) 902-8844.
• Wildlife, plants and all park buildings, signs, tables and
other structures are protected; removal or damage of
any kind is prohibited. Hunting, feeding of wildlife and
gathering firewood on state park property is prohibited.
• One camping party is allowed per site.
• Maximum of eight people per campsite, including children.
• Campsites may not be held for other parties.
• Camping check-in time is 2:30 p.m., and checkout is 1 p.m.
• Extra vehicle overnight - $10 per night in designated
area for each vehicle in excess of the one allowed per site.
Does not apply to vehicle towed by a recreational vehicle.
• Pets must be on leash and under physical control at all
times. This includes trail areas and campsites.
• Pet owners must clean up after pets on all state park lands.
• Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
• Engine-driven electric generators may be operated
only between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Alta Lake State Park
Welcome to Alta Lake
is a 181-acre camping park where
the mountainous pine forests meet
the desert. Alta Lake is about 1 mile
long and .50 mile wide. The park offers
good trout fishing during summer
months. The park also offers a variety
of recreational activities, including
fishing, sailboarding, swimming,
wildlife viewing, hiking, horseback
riding and scuba diving.

Alta Lake State Park offers several amenities and
facilities to make your visit more enjoyable and
comfortable, including:
• One kitchen shelter without electricity, one
covered picnic area and 10 unsheltered
picnic tables
• All day-use facilities are first come, first served
• Two watercraft launches with 60 feet of dock space
• Waterskiing and personal-watercraft use on the
lake is restricted to the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
(Okanogan County safety ordinance)
• Modern restrooms with hot showers
• Concession building providing food, firewood
and some camping supplies
• Trailer dump station
• Wi-Fi

Park boundary
Alta Lake State Park offers several options for
overnight stays. There are 91 standard campsites and
32 utility sites with a maximum length of 45 feet. One
utility and one standard campsite available to people
with disabilities.
The park also offers two group camps. The Wooded
Group Camp accommodates between 20 and 65
guests
